Caregiver ChronicleFall is here but it is difficult to tell with temperatures in the high 80s. The heat and humidity continues but I am hoping you will be able to take a relaxing, cool break at the Caregiver Conference on Nov. 12. With the holidays fast approaching it is even more essential to take mindful time for ourselves and to breathe deeply as we go about the tasks of our days.

On Oct. 26, Dr. Slaton hosted his annual Affair to Remember to honor our community caregivers. I’d like to give a special recognition to the recipients of the 2015 awards. The recipient of the William C Thomas award for a community professional was Joanna Buckles, administrator of the Ayers Rehabilitation facility in Trenton. The Lynn Domenech Professional Care Partner Award was presented to Debbie Rivers and Jose Rodriguez. And the William G. Ebersole Award was presented to Ed Lacombe. Dr. Slaton thanked each as he spoke of the importance of care partners; with a focus on the team effort and partnerships needed to provide for successful caregiving.

At this time, I’d like to thank all of the care partners out there who are so committed to providing the best care and comfort that is possible. The hours are long, the tasks never ending but the gifts are also there. And the team is essential. Please reach out to your team during this holiday time. Thanks once again for allowing us to be a care partner in your journey.
